What Is Electrology?

Electrology is the only FDA Approved method for permanent hair removal. Electrology has three different modalities: Thermolysis, Galvanic & Blend. A microscopic probe slides into the opening of the follicle where electricity is used to transfer current from the machine and produce either a heating effect or chemical reaction, depending on the modality. This then weakens & destroys the Dermal Papilla which is what gives the hair life. When this is destroyed, the body is unable to produce a hair in that follicle and thus, you have permanent hair removal.

This service requires dedication as the process can take anywhere from 1 to 3 years depending on the area. The hair must be in the proper stage, Anagen, in order to be completely destroyed. As hairs naturally shed, and new ones begin to grow, you need to have them treated quickly. Staying on your treatment schedule and following pre / post treatment instructions will bring you the most success in your permanent hair removal journey.

Pre-Treatment Instructions

Avoid any caffeine the day of the treatment. Failure to do so can result in less effective treatment and more discomfort.

Come with the area being treated cleaned and free from makeup, lotions, perfumes, deodorants, etc.

Stay hydrated! Hydration starts at least 3 days before the appointment. This makes it less painful, more effective, and results in a faster healing time

Painkillers can be taken prior to the appointment.

This should be done 1 Hour ahead of time.

Stop all waxing. sugaring, tweezing, & lasering in treatment areas. Shaving is encouraged and should be done 3 days beforehand, depending on your hair growth.

Post Treatment Instructions

Treated areas can appear red / swollen and will go away in a few hours. If you swell, treat with a cold compress. Make sure the compress is clean to prevent infection.

Don’t touch or scratch the treated area to avoid infections.

Keep the treated area clean and dry. Do not apply any lotions, makeup, deodorant etc for 24 - 48 hours.

AVOID SUN EXPOSURE! Minimum of 24 - 48 hours.

SPF to be worn on the treated area daily.

Do not shave or exfoliate for 24 - 48 hours. Do not tweeze, wax, sugar, or have any laser treatments done between appointments.

Hydration does not stop after your appointment. Continue to stay hydrated between appointments for the best results.

If these Post Treatment Instructions are not followed you are risking infection, scabbing, & hyperpigmentation.

Consultations Required!

All new clients must have a consultation prior to receiving any Electrolysis treatments. During this time your health history, including anything hormone related, and your hair removal history will be discussed. This is to ensure there are no contraindications, which means a reason you cannot be treated.

Next, if no contraindications are present, you will receive a free few minutes of treatment. This allows you to see if the treatment is tolerable and for the Electrologist to examine the skin, your skins reaction, and establish appropriate settings.

This can lead straight into the scheduled appointment, or schedule for another day / time.
